Re: spring plowing
We will plant a true sargo called Milk-a-Lot by Mycogen
Seed or another one called Bale All from a small company in
Texas We Plant in 36"rows and plant some where around 4-5
pounds per acre. with the seed somewhere around 15-18,000
seeds per pound. IF we plant a sudan cross with sargo then
we get small stalk and lodging becomes very much a problem
this is why we stay with true sargo variety.

Re: spring plowing
Very interesting!
I agree your comment for sudan variety. This year a Grazer
(is sudan hybrid) also 9% of protein. Have you analitic
resuts of Milk-A-Lot silage?
Milk-A-Lot variety is a seed genetically modified?

We Plant in less 8" rows and plant some where arrond 40
pounds per acre. I convert 1pound = 1lb, Is correct?

Have you photos of Milk-A-Lot and Bale All varietys?

Regards!

Re: spring plowing
These are all of the Bale All forage sorhum In 2002
Milk-a-lot was not available if I remember correct due to
the drought in Texas and I am having trouble find Mycogen
pictures, but the Mycogen grows much shorter maybe 8' at
best with lots of leaves and yields are equal to those that
reach 10' plus I say when planting forage sorghum find a
variety that you like and stay with it or you may have
trouble finding one that stands without going down with the
least little wind or rain.

Re: spring plowing
I am trying to find information on Milk a lot but no luck
either they do not list there forage sorghums on the web
site . You are drilling this. you cut and swath before
making silage when we drill we will plant somewhere around
35-40 pds Some people here will plant as much as 100
pounds/acre thinking that this will make to much competion
and make small juicy stalks and won't get as rank but I
never seed this much and when they plant this amount to the
acre they are using a sudan type seed only
