Fruitville School
This is the old Fruitville, Missouri School. This one room
schoolhouse is one of the last remnants of Colonel J.L.
Torrey's locally famous planned town named Fruitville. Col.
Torrey was a well known Indian fighter out west and
eventually retired to the Missouri Ozarks, bought a large
ranch, and began raising cattle, sheep, goats, and fruit.
Needless to say that his plans to start a town never went
over very well. Today, this old school is used for hay
Re: Fruitville School
Interesting history on the building and a good photograph.
I like trying to preserve history with photographs. We have
several old building here in Mills County, TX that I have
taken photos of, and due to time or storms, some are now
gone entirely or changed to show more wear and tear.

Does your history books have photos of the building when it
was being used as a school?

I like this photo and voted.
