Rare Zetors at the dealer..
When i was at the dealer to pick up some fuel filters, i saw
some rare Zetors. This is a 5545, in for repair on a fuel
leak, and a broken seal of the 4wd shaft. In more than 35
years of operation, this is only the SECOND TIME this
tractor ever saw the dealer !!

This one is badged 5511, but the official type designation
for the 4wd model, was 5545. It is equipped with a Selene
front axle, which is also used under Ford Major, IH and
other popular tractors of the mid and late 60's.
It is a 60 hp 3.1 liter four cylinder, built around 1968.
The tractor rolls on 14.9-28 rear, and 9.5-24 front.

Of this model, only 2 are sold in the Netherlands. This one
has powersteering, the other 5545 was sold with a front
loader, but without powersteering !!??? In that era, there
was a wide range of options to choose from, which could
result in unusual compromises by farmers.

This is the front axle, with the cardan shaft taken off on
the transmission side, for the seal repair.
It looks like this axle has some sort of reduction gear,
that reduces the speed (or adjusts the ratio to the various
tractors it was mounted on ??) before it enters the

rear view: The bigger rear tires come with big mudguards.

This is a 3011 with the early cab. These are rare because
most of the cabs are rusted off in those 40 years. This cab
is very handy for yard work, when you need to hop on and hop
off frequently, you can leave the sliding door open, having
it out of the way for easy access.

This early cab was the one without ROPS. For this cab, you
could order a ROPS frame that could be mounted over the
outside of the cab.

This is the 3011 with the door opened.

I expect that the sliding door cab, was designed with the
half tracked 3016 in mind. On a halftrack, the track has to
go forward and would collise with a normal cab fender. With
the sliding door, it is still possible to open the door,
while a half track is fitted next to the cab.

19 hours on the clock ?? in 40 years it's probably doing
it's second round..
Re: Rare Zetors at the dealer..

Yes, the 5745 and 5748 came also with this Selene front
axle. In holland, these are rare, because 4wd was gaining
acceptance on this size of tractors in Holland, in the early

The 5745 was the last tractor with this axle, the 6745 was
the first one to get the Zetor built heavy duty planetary
axle, that was used until 1996 on tractors up to 105 hp.

Later, there was also a 4wd 5011 for sale, not with Zetors
heavy axle but with the same Selene axle, designated as 5011
S. This tractor has been tested on the Zetor proving grounds
but was never sold.

On the later 5245 a front axle was used that shared the main
components, like the hubs, with the narrow front axle that
was designed for the 5243 model, a vineyard and orchard

I dont really know about the relationship between Selene and
Zetor, but some say that Zetor built various parts for
Selene, that were also used for other tractors. I have
looked into it, but have not found a fitting answer yet.
Re: Rare Zetors at the dealer..
I know now:
Renault, Zetor, Selene and Roadless all used the GMC truck
front axle of a WW2 army truck :-)

Wat is dan de persoon die zo'n reactie geeft op iemand die
de integriteit bezit om na 1,5 jaar alsnog de moeite te
nemen om zijn bewering te corrigeren ?
